Gin mill is an outmoded term for a bar. During the 1940s, 50s and 60s, Grand Rapids was peppered with gin mills. Cocktail bars. This site is an attempt to document the people and places of Grand Rapids’ boozy past. And though the term gin mill may have derogatory overtones, we embrace all that it implies.
